Jan van Eyck (1390-1441) and Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528), the Flemish and the German master, two giants at a turning point in western art history. The Groeninge Museum brings both men together in a prestigious exhibition. More than ever it will become clear what a shock the Flemish Primitives caused in the rest of Europa. For the first time ever their influence on their eastern neighbours will be shown. With work by Van Eyck and Dürer, Campin, Van der Weyden, Van der Goes, Memling, Schongauer, Lochner, Altdorfer and Holbein. Also with masterpieces by lesser known masters from Germany , Austria , Hungary , the Czech Republic , Poland and Estonia.
